Tailings are the main solid waste products generated from mining processing, widely produced in the beneficiation of iron ore, copper ore, gold ore, bauxite, lead-zinc ore, and more. Fresh tailings have a moisture content as high as 20%-40%, with some tailings reaching 50%-60%, appearing in slurry or paste form.High-moisture tailings are not only difficult to transport and store but also pose significant environmental and safety risks such as dam failures and seepage. Traditional tailings pond storage requires large land areas, high investment, and carries substantial environmental risks—a common challenge faced by mining companies worldwide.
However, dried tailings are extremely valuable building material raw materials (bricks, cement admixtures), mine backfill materials, and feedstocks for valuable metal extraction. Through efficient dewatering and resource utilization, waste that once required significant disposal costs can be transformed into a stable source of profit.
Our Tailings Single-Drum Rotary Dryer is specifically designed for this application. Utilizing rotary drum drying technology combined with a powerful breaking device, anti-sticking lifting plate system, and high-efficiency dust collection system, it rapidly reduces tailings moisture from 20%-40% down to 8%-12%, completely solving the common problems of "wall sticking, ring formation, and blockages" found in traditional equipment.
Compared with triple-pass dryers, the single-drum rotary dryer features a simpler structure, lower capital investment, and easier maintenance—making it particularly suitable for small to medium-scale mine tailings processing projects.
Our equipment is widely used in the following mining scenarios:
Metal Tailings: Iron tailings, Copper tailings, Gold tailings, Bauxite tailings.
Non-metallic Tailings: Graphite tailings, Fluorite tailings, Silica sand tailings.
Chemical & Coal Waste: Coal slime, Phosphogypsum, Red mud.
Our equipment utilizes Direct Heating Rotary Cylinder Drying Technology.
Feeding: High-moisture tailings are fed into the dryer cylinder via a conveyor.
Breaking & Granulating: The cylinder is equipped with a unique combined lifting plate and breaking device. For sticky tailings, the equipment forcibly breaks them apart, increasing the contact area between the material and the hot air, thoroughly solving the common issues of "blockage" and "agglomeration" found in traditional equipment.
Heat Exchange: High-temperature airflow generated by the hot air furnace (fueled by coal, natural gas, biomass, or waste heat) fully contacts the tailings inside the cylinder for efficient heat exchange.
Discharging: The dried tailings are discharged via a discharger, while the exhaust gas is treated by a high-efficiency dust removal system (baghouse filter) to meet emission standards.
